Accessibility

We are deeply aware of the importance of accessibility for everyone and recognize that our current facilities unfortunately have several limitations. We apologize for the challenges this may pose for some of our guests and wish to assure everyone that we are continuously working to improve access conditions and make our cultural offerings as accessible as possible for everyone.

If you have good advice, suggestions, or ideas on how we can make our places more accessible, you are always welcome to write to us at info@frederiksbergmuseerne.dk

Below, you will find detailed information about the current accessibility conditions at our museums. Our staff is always ready to assist and ensure that your visit is as comfortable and accessible as possible.

Accessibility in Cisternerne

Access and mobility

  • Unfortunately, there is no elevator, and Cisternerne are therefore not accessible to wheelchair users.
  • Those with walking difficulties should be aware that access is only possible via a concrete staircase.
  • Inside, an uneven concrete floor awaits, which can be challenging to move on, with areas of puddles or walkways and metal grates over water surfaces.
  • The lighting is often very sparse, which can make the experience challenging for those with limited vision.
  • Due to the nature of the exhibition, we recommend that all visitors wear flat shoes.

Strollers and prams

  • These cannot be brought inside. Parking is available in or outside the entrance pyramid.

Toilet facilities

  • There are no toilets available in Cisternernes. The nearest public toilet is located about 200 meters away, in the small orange house in Søndermarken.

Animals

  • Only guide dogs and approved service dogs are allowed in Cisternerne

Accessibility at Bakkehuset

Wheelchair access

  • Access for wheelchair users is possible from the garden side of the museum with the help of a mobile ramp. It requires assistance from a personal helper. We encourage guests who wish to use this access to contact the staff upon arrival.

Access to the 1st floor

  • Unfortunately, Bakkehuset does not have an elevator, and access to the 1st floor, where the museum’s special exhibitions are often shown, can therefore be limited. However, the staff are very willing to help carry a walker up to the 1st floor if necessary.

Toilet facilities

  • Unfortunately, the museum does not have accessible toilets for disabled individuals

Animals

  • Only guide dogs and approved service dogs are allowed at Bakkehuset.

Accessibility at STORM

Wheelchair access

  • Access for wheelchair users is possible, but only via a mobile ramp, which requires the use of a personal helper. Unfortunately, the ramp is quite steep and leads to a vestibule with two doors placed at an awkward angle. We encourage guests who need this access option to contact the staff upon arrival so they can assist with laying out the ramp.

Access to the 1st floor

  • Please note that the museum does not have an elevator, and access to the 1st floor, where the Storm P. exhibition is shown, can therefore be limited for some visitors. Our staff, however, are more than willing to help carry a walker up to the 1st floor if necessary.
