About The Frederiksberg Museums

The Frederiksberg Museums gives you a unique insight into Danish art and culture. Now and in historical times.

Frederiksberg is a town in itself. Surrounded by Copenhagen and, among other things, known for its beautiful, lush greenery.

The Frederiksberg Museums consists of Storm, Bakkehuset, Møstings and Cisternerne. All four museums are within walking distance from one another.

We invite you to experience art and culture not to be found elsewhere. Every year there is a new exhibition in Cisternerne, where we promise an immersive art experience with international world class art installations. And in the beautiful old classical Frederiksberg villa, Møstings, you can experience small exhibitions with modern and contemporary art.

We tell the history of Denmark from the aesthetic, critical and humorous perspectives of art. At Storm you can gain insight into the special Danish tradition for humour and satire.

At Bakkehuset you step into Denmark’s Golden Age as it looked at the beginning of the 19th century when Hans Christian Andersen was one of the frequent visitors. History is best experienced with all senses open. That is why in our luncheon restaurant we are based in the seasons and in history. From Easter to September we serve Danish open sandwiches – the best you can get! All inspired by what was served in the Danish Golden Age.

All in all, you will find in The Frederiksberg Museums an attractively varied art, culture and nature experience for all generations, interests and taste buds. The large beautiful parks offer the breaks that are necessary in order to digest and season the museum experiences, whether it is the playgrounds, a boat trip on the canals in Frederiksberg Garden or just walking along the winding paths in Hans Christian Andersen’s footsteps.
