Sara Krøgholt Trier’s upcoming exhibition THE SURFACE OF EVERYTHING unfolds as an immersive installation, guiding visitors through dimly lit rooms toward a semi-circular platform where the exhibition’s central animated film is presented.
Set within a chamber play–like scenario, the film follows a group of characters who gather in a modern amphitheatre in a city park. Here, the boundaries between self and surroundings begin to dissolve. They can easily inhabit one another’s perspectives, yet find it difficult to grasp their own.
THE SURFACE OF EVERYTHING takes its point of departure in the amphitheatre as a recurring motif and historical symbol: an architectural stage for political debate and collective decision-making, but also for art, entertainment, and games. The exhibition examines a present time in which established ideas of shared truths and stable understandings of reality appear increasingly porous. A time in which politics and fiction are intervowen in ways that make reality difficult to decode.
The exhibition opens on Friday, September 25, from 5-7 PM.
Sara Krøgholt Trier graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2024.
