Hannah Toticki: HARD WATER SOFT PIPES

With her exhibition at Møstings, Hannah Toticki engages with water as a fundamental element for all life on Earth and as a resource we share but rarely see. Toticki fills the exhibition space with extensive, immersive installations in which materials such as pipes and glass make visible the circulation of water and its infrastructure.

Visitors move through Møstings’ first floor, where the pathways of water emerge as both a physical and poetic presence. The installations draw connections between what flows hidden beneath the city and the water we encounter in everyday life, in the tap, in our bodies, and in nature around us. The familiar becomes strange, and the invisible takes form.

The exhibition revolves around the myth of the Naiads, freshwater nymphs of Greek mythology, which appear in Toticki’s works in new interpretations. Mythological ideas of nature’s life force are interwoven with contemporary technical systems, raising questions about community, responsibility, and our dependence on water as a vulnerable resource.

HARD WATER SOFT PIPES is sensory contemporary art in which photography and installation shape a unified experience of the presence and movement of water.

The exhibition opens on Friday, January 9, from 5-8 pm.

Hannah Toticki (b. 1984) graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in 2016. Her practice explores themes such as labour, economy, and the structures of everyday life. She works across sculpture, installation, textiles, and performative approaches, and has received a number of awards and grants.
