Young opera singers pay tribute to Maria Callas in Cisternerne /
Descend into the darkness and step inside the world of opera. Meet characters such as Carmen, Musetta, Elvira, Sieglinde, Dalila, Lauretta, Cherubino, Charlotte, Suzel, Dido and Lisa, brought to life in the unique acoustics and underground space of Cisternerne.
Four young singers from The Opera Academy have drawn inspiration from the legendary opera diva Maria Callas and her wide-ranging and versatile repertoire. Although she was especially known for her interpretations of Italian opera, her artistic work extended far beyond this, and her repertoire was both extensive and nuanced. Inspired by this, the young singers invite the audience to experience both an intimate and wide-ranging journey through the world of opera.
The event is a collaboration with the Royal Danish Academy of Music and the program features arias from the operas Carmen, La Bohème, I Puritani, Die Walküre, Samson et Dalila, Gianni Schicchi, The Marriage of Figaro, Werther, L’Amico Fritz, Dido and Aeneas, The Queen of Spades, and more.

The concert will be introduced by opera dramaturge and opera history lecturer at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, Nila Parly.
Please note that it will not be possible to experience the current exhibition Seven Deaths by Marina Abramović during this special event, as the installation will be switched off.
It is cold in Cisternerne, and you should therefore bring warm clothes with you for the event. It will be possible to purchase hot and cold beverages.
