Heather Love in Conversation with Oscar Eriksson Furunes /

Taking Oscar Eriksson Furunes’s solo exhibition GLITRA as a point of departure, American queer studies scholar Heather Love joins Furunes for a conversation about the narratives that have historically shaped – and continue to shape – our understanding of queer lives. They will begin by introducing each other’s work before exploring how their respective practices engage with themes raised by GLITRA, including queer lived experience, visibility, vulnerability, community, and change. The event concludes with questions from the audience.

Oscar Eriksson Furunes is a Norwegian-Swedish artist and architect and a graduate from the Malmö Art Academy. Drawing on material from queer history, his practice interweaves personal references, gestures, and codes. He is particularly interested in the boundaries and intersections between personal, individual histories and collective, public history.

Heather Love is an American scholar, writer, and professor at Rutgers University. Her research spans gender and sexuality studies, affect studies, literary and visual culture, and critical theory. She is the author of the influential books Feeling Backward: Loss and the Politics of Queer History (2007) and Underdogs: Social Deviance and Queer Theory (2021).

The conversation will be held in English and forms part of a mini-festival organised by the Frederiksberg Museums from 10 to 13 August, coinciding with Copenhagen Pride Week.
